All highway routes will have automatic toll collection from the end of July

VEC has selected a contractor to invest in and operate the automatic toll collection system on expressways managed by the unit, guaranteed to be completed next July.

Specifically, on the afternoon of June 7, 2022, Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation – VEC said it had selected a contractor to invest in and operate the automatic toll collection system on expressways operated by the unit. managed, guaranteed to be completed next July.

Accordingly, Tasco Joint Stock Company has just won the bid and signed a contract to provide toll collection services on expressways managed and operated by VEC. It is known that this is the parent company of VETC Automatic Toll Collection Company Limited – one of two businesses providing automatic non-stop toll collection in Vietnam.

In addition, the progress of installing and operating automatic toll collection on all expressways managed by VEC must be completed no later than July 31, including expressways: Cau Gie – Ninh Binh, Noi Bai – Lao Cai, Da Nang – Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay with a total of 155 automatic toll lanes, of which 140 new lanes are invested by the contractor, 15 lanes invested by VEC on the Cau Gie – Ninh Binh was handed over to the exploitation contractor. After a period of 5 years, the contractor must hand over the entire system to VEC.

The total contract value is more than 694 billion VND, a decrease of 369 billion VND compared to VEC’s bidding value, the capital source is extracted from tolls on highways. In addition to operating all toll collection activities on VEC expressways, Tasco is also responsible for investing and operating the automatic toll collection system on all 4 VEC expressways currently in operation for a period of 5 years.

According to Decision 07/2017 of the Prime Minister, 4 expressways VEC is managing and exploiting must complete automatic toll collection without stopping in 2018, then extended until the end of 2020. But to date, only 1 expressway Cau Gie – Ninh Binh Expressway has installed and operated 15 automatic toll lanes, the remaining routes have not been deployed due to capital constraints. In the latest direction, the Prime Minister required VEC to complete the installation and operation of automatic toll collection on all expressways no later than July 31.
